Peter Kinley's painting gave me a lot of inspiration. This painting is very large, but the content is very simple, a green grass and four sheep. I was attracted by this painting. Even if I haven't seen it in physically, I can imagine how amazing it is. Influenced by this painting, I also want to draw a large-scale painting. It also need to be simple but not easy, and very ethereal, can make people integrate into the environment. So I drew "Water, branches, cloud".

In order to achieve the effect I wanted, I collected a lot of his paintings and studied his color, brush strokes and composition.
Peter Kinley has given me a lot of inspiration in painting, and in the expression of art, there is an artist who has a more profound influence on me, that is James turrel. The first time I knew his work was in Ma's first 1-2-1 tutorial. When I saw his works, I firmly believe that his works were closest to the feelings I wanted to express. After that, I did a lot of research on him, watched his interviews and videos, and went to the pace gallery to see his exhibition. In fact, his art influenced my creation from the very beginning of my MA course.

His works gave me inspiration in composition, let me decided to highlight the focus of the picture in the middle of my painting, making the background become void. The lake and cloud in my painting are two circles, which are also the main shapes in the picture. They are also the composition in my mind inspired by him. I think such simple geometric figure has a primitive attraction. In an interview with him, I learned that he was a Quaker, and his pursuit of light and his expression were inspired by religion. I've also always been very interested in religions like Buddhism and Taoism, and I've been deeply influenced by Taoism. Under the influence of Turrel, I began to want to express the religious feeling in my works.
In order to give my paintings a sense of religion, I did some research on Buddhist art and ancient Egyptian art. I try to refer to Buddhist paintings in composition. I draw black edge lines for the tree to make it look like a tree in an ancient Egyptian mural.
